We all know that one of the best ways to make a road trip easy for everyone is to have plenty of on-the-go snacks!
If you’re tired of the same old road trip snacks, we have a few new ideas for you!
Don’t worry about snack crumbs getting everywhere when you bring along your Snack & Play Travel Tray! Snacks stay on your child’s lap where they belong so there’s no mess to clean up when you get home!
Pre-Packaged and Ready To Go!
Pre-Packaged Tips: Buy in bulk and portion out into baggies or fun multi-compartment plastic containers for easy access. This way, no one will be turning around from the front seat trying to pour just a few snacks out onto a child’s Snack & Play Travel Tray – minimizing spills and dangerous travel behavior!
- Granola Bars
Why we love them: They are delicious, come in lots of varieties, and are seriously portable.
Our favorite brands: NutriGrain, Nature Valley, and Kind Bars are our preferences. Kind Healthy Grain Bars are perfect if you have kids who have to avoid gluten. - Annie’s Products
Why we love them: Annie’s has our hearts. They have tons of allergy friendly, organic, and all-natural options that won’t break the bank.
Our favorite products: Kid-tested and approved are the chocolate chunk granola bars, any of the fruit snacks, the fruit leathers, cheddar bunnies (which can be bought in bulk and portioned out before your trip!), and their gluten free cookies. - Fruit and Veggie Pouches
Why we love them: These little pouches pack a punch of nutrition while being fun to eat and generally good for your littles.
Our favorite brands: Earth’s Best, Ella’s Kitchen, and Plum Organics top our list because they have a huge variety of flavor combos, they are easy to find at just about any grocery store, are super affordable, and are organic brands. Plus they have offerings even older kids will be able to enjoy!
Home Made
Home Made Tips: Make snacks ahead of time and freeze or store in serving-sized portions. Frozen snacks can be used in place of ice packs in insulated totes while traveling, and they’ll be defrosted in time for munching!
- Crunchy
Why we love them: Crunchy snacks always hit the spot for some reason! My kids love chips, popcorn, even nuts when traveling.
Our favorites: Make your own trail mix by combining nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and chocolate chips/M&Ms! Parmesan Pita Crisps are easy and delicious, as are sweet potato chips and roasted chickpeas (which you can tailor to your family’s flavor preferences). - Freezes-Well Section
Why we love them: Frozen snacks can be made well before travel day and, when placed in an insulated tote, can help keep other foods cold!
Our favorites: Banana Bread Muffins, crustless sandwich pockets, “poptarts“, and date and coconut energy balls.
